All CraftMyDocs templates are tested against Applicant Tracking Systems, so your resume parses cleanly and reaches a human recruiter. Pick a sales & marketing design, then customize colors, fonts, and sections — your content stays intact even if you switch templates later. Add AI-written bullet points and a real-time ATS score as you go.
A sales resume is a scoreboard — design it like one
Sales hiring managers want quota attainment, deal size, cycle length and territory or segment before anything else. Sales templates put a Key Metrics strip directly under the summary — four to six figures such as "142% of quota FY24 · $2.3M closed · 38 new logos · 6-month average cycle" — so the scoreboard is the first thing read. Each role then leads with the book of business you carried and lists attainment year by year. The layout is bold and confident, with a single strong accent, because the resume itself is a small demonstration of how you present.
Bullets that sales leaders believe
State the number, the timeframe and the how: "Grew mid-market territory from $600K to $1.9M ARR in 18 months by building a partner referral channel that now sources 30% of pipeline." Attainment by year is more convincing than a career average. Name the segment (SMB, mid-market, enterprise), the motion (inbound, outbound, channel, field), the deal size and the sales methodology you actually ran (MEDDIC, Challenger, SPIN). Awards — President's Club, top-performer rankings — belong in the metrics strip or a short Recognition section with the year. Leave out generic soft skills; a sales leader assumes you can communicate.
Structuring for account management and business development
Account managers should replace quota lines with retention, net revenue retention, expansion and renewal figures, and name the size of the portfolio. Business development roles should show pipeline created, meetings booked, partnership value and conversion to closed revenue. Sales engineers and enablement roles should show the deals they supported and the win-rate change they drove. The sales templates keep the metrics strip flexible for any of these, and the Tools section (Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Gong) sits near the bottom — it matters, but it is not the story.
Sales & Marketing resume template FAQs
What if I missed quota in some years?
Show the years you hit and the context for the years you did not (new territory, product launch, market contraction). Hiring managers know quotas move; a candidate who reports 87% in a rebuild year and 130% the next is more credible than one who lists only the good year. Never inflate — attainment is the one thing sales references verify.
Where do I put President's Club and other awards?
In the metrics strip if they are recent, or in a short Recognition section with the year and the criterion ("top 5% of 400 reps"). Attach the award to the role in which you earned it so the timeline is clear.
Should a sales resume be one page?
One page for under eight years; two is fine beyond that if each role carries year-by-year attainment. The metrics strip and your current role must be on page one. Cut early retail or telesales roles to one line each once you have enterprise or mid-market experience.
Do sales templates pass ATS screening?
Yes. The metrics strip is built from real text, not graphics, so a parser reads the figures. Section names are standard and the layout is single-column with an optional right rail that parses after the main content. Run the ATS checker to confirm before you apply.
