Frequently asked questions
Is this a legally binding electronic signature?
In most jurisdictions — under the US ESIGN Act, the EU eIDAS regulation for simple electronic signatures, and similar laws — a signature image applied with intent to sign is valid for everyday contracts. It is not a certificate-based digital signature with an audit trail, which some regulated documents require. When in doubt, ask the counterparty which they need.
Can I add a date or my printed name next to the signature?
Not within this tool. Open the signed file in Edit PDF and use the Text tool to add the date and name beside the signature, then download again.
Can I use a scanned image of my handwritten signature instead?
Not in this tool, which uses a drawn signature. To place a signature image, open the document in Edit PDF, insert the image with the Image tool and position it on the signature line; crop the scan tightly first with Crop Image and convert it to PNG.
Can I sign in more than one place?
Run the tool once per signature location: sign, download, upload the signed file and sign again on the next page or corner. For documents with several signature blocks, Edit PDF lets you draw or place a signature anywhere you click.
