Frequently asked questions
Does it work on scanned statements?
A scan has no text layer, so there is nothing to place in cells. Run the PDF through the OCR tool first to extract the text, or request a digital copy of the statement from the issuer — digital PDFs convert accurately.
Why did some numbers come through as text?
Values with currency symbols, thousands separators in an unexpected locale, or trailing footnote markers are kept as text so nothing is silently changed. Select the column in Excel and use Data → Text to Columns or a Number format to convert them.
What about merged cells and multi-line headers?
Multi-line headers are usually split across two rows; merged cells are approximated by repeating or leaving blanks. Complex financial layouts may need a few minutes of tidying, but the data itself arrives in the right columns.
Is my financial data safe?
The file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed once and never stored; the spreadsheet is kept for up to an hour so you can download it, then deleted automatically. Nothing is reused.
