How to use a resume example without copying it
Borrow the structure, not the sentences
Each example shows a working order of sections and a summary shape for that field — title, years, specialism, one result. Keep that skeleton and replace every fact with your own. Recruiters read hundreds of resumes in the same field and recognise a copied bullet immediately.
Match the bullets' pattern to your evidence
The bullets all follow verb → what you did → measurable result. Take your own responsibilities and ask what changed because of them: a number, a time saved, a score raised, a risk avoided. If you cannot find a number, describe the scale — team size, budget, volume — instead.
Move to the role guide for keywords
Every example links to the full job-title guide, which lists the skills and terms applicant tracking systems screen for in that role and the mistakes hiring managers see most. Use the ATS checker with the actual job posting to confirm the match before you apply.
Examples by industry and level
The examples above span technology, healthcare, finance, sales, marketing, creative, operations, education and the skilled trades, at entry, mid and senior level. Filter by industry to see how conventions differ: healthcare resumes lead with licences and unit experience, sales resumes with quota attainment, technical resumes with a grouped stack, and executive resumes with scope — revenue, headcount, geography — before any bullet. Filter by level to see how the same field changes shape as a career progresses, from a projects-first graduate resume to a two-page leadership record.
If your exact title is not here, open the job-title directory — it covers more than 1,100 titles, each with its own summary example, skills and bullets — or start from the closest example and rename the role. Every example and guide links into the builder, where each bullet can be copied straight in, and the templates library has a category matched to each industry.
Resume example FAQs
Are these real resumes?
They are composite examples written for each job title from the responsibilities, skills and metrics typical of the role, not documents belonging to real people. Names, employers and figures are illustrative. Use them for structure and phrasing, and replace every detail with your own verifiable facts.
Which example should I use if I am changing careers?
Start from the example for the role you want, not the one you have. Its structure shows what the new field expects to see first; then read the career-change template guide, which explains how to lead with transferable evidence and compress an unrelated history without hiding it.
Do the examples pass applicant tracking systems?
The content patterns do — standard section names, plain text, verbs and numbers. Whether your finished resume passes depends on the template and file you export, which is why every example links to ATS-safe templates and the checker can scan your exported PDF against a real job description.
Can I edit an example directly in the builder?
Each example page has a Copy Bullet button on every bullet and a link into the builder, where you paste the parts you want into your own resume. Building and editing are free; exporting to PDF or DOCX is part of the paid plans.
