Cover Letter Templates
Professional cover letter designs that complement your resume and make a lasting first impression. Each one shares its resume's header, typeface and accent colour, so the two pages read as one application.
- One column, real white space
- Body 10.5–11.5 pt
- Contact details as plain text
Dear Ms Chen,
I'm applying for the Senior Product Designer role because patient scheduling is the problem I've spent five years on. At Lumen Health I led the redesign of a booking flow used by 400,000 patients.
The result I'm proudest of is an 18% drop in missed appointments. We rebuilt reminders around how people plan their week, tested three versions with 40 patients, and shipped the one that won.
I'd like to bring that research-to-release habit to your team. I'm free to talk any time next week.
Kind regards,
Alex Morgan

Match the resume, then keep it simpler
A cover letter template should share the resume's header block, typeface and accent colour so the two pages read as one application — that is why each design here belongs to the same family as a resume template. Beyond the header, the letter needs less: one column, generous line spacing, a date line and a recipient block. Two-column or heavily coloured letter layouts compete with the words, and the words are the point.
Structure the page for a 20-second read
Hiring managers skim a letter the way they skim a resume: opening sentence, first line of each paragraph, sign-off. Templates here keep paragraphs short and separated by real white space, set the body at 10.5–11.5 pt, and leave the margins at 0.8–1 inch so the page does not look crammed. Three paragraphs fit comfortably; if you need a fourth, tighten the body text rather than the margins.
Export as one PDF with the resume
Send the letter and resume as a single PDF, letter first, unless the application form has separate upload fields. The builder exports both from the same document set, with the same fonts embedded, so nothing shifts between the two pages. Name the file with your name and the role, and check the letter's date and recipient before every send — the most common cover-letter error is the wrong company name.
Cover letter template FAQs
Are the cover letter templates free?
Writing and previewing a letter in any template is free. Exporting to PDF or DOCX, the full template library and the AI writer are part of the paid plans, listed on the pricing page.
Do I have to use the same template as my resume?
No, but it is the safest choice. Matching header and typography is what makes an application look considered. If you change one, keep the accent colour and font family the same across both.
Should a cover letter template include a photo or icons?
No. Photos follow the same regional rules as resumes (none for the US, UK, Canada or Australia), and icons in contact lines are ignored by applicant tracking systems. The templates here keep contact details as plain text.
Can I write the letter with AI and still use a template?
Yes. The cover letter builder drafts the text from your resume and the job description, then lays it into the template you chose. You edit the paragraphs in place; the design stays fixed.
